Chartered Environmentalist

 

As a Licensed Body of the Society for the Environment (SocEnv), CIEEM is able to offer our Full and Fellow Members the option to apply for Chartered Environmentalist status.

Am I eligible to apply?

To be eligible to apply for Chartered Environmentalist status you must have the relevant education, training and experience and carry out your work to high professional and ethical standards.

You will need to:

  • be a Fellow or Full Member of CIEEM;
  • have a minimum of 12 units of knowledge and/or experience, which will include at least four years relevant experience, depending upon the level and duration of academic study;
  • demonstrate knowledge of, competence in and engagement with sustainable management of the environment; and
  • agree to comply with the SocEnv’s Code of Ethics and the Institute’s Continuing Professional Development requirements.

When should I apply?

Dates are set in advance for submission of applications and interviews. If you wish to apply for CEnv status then you will need to make sure that we have received your application by the due date (as set out below) to ensure that you are included in the next batch of interviews.

Any applications we receive after the due date will be kept until the next batch of applications are ready to go through the process as set out in the above timetable.  Please note, these dates are subject to availability of interviewers and may change.

All Chartered Environmentalist applications will follow a four stage process.

How much does it cost?

The total fee for registering as a Chartered Environmentalist is currently made up of the following (which may be revised from time to time):

Stage 1 fee: £60

Initial assessment fee (incl VAT, non-refundable): £60.00 

Stage 2 fee: £226.00

£144 - Professional Review Interview fee (including VAT, non-refundable)

£82 - CEnv registration fee* (VAT exempt, one-off payment and includes your CEnv first annual payment).

* The CEnv registration fee is refundable should your Professional Review Interview not be successful.



Total fee (Stage 1 & 2): £286.00

PLEASE NOTE: The Stage 1 fee is due with your initial application. If your application is successful, you will be asked if you wish to complete Stage 2. The Stage 2 fee is due when you submit your written report.

There will be an annual SocEnv fee payable to maintain your chartered status. This fee is currently £56.00 and made up of a £41.00  subscription fee plus a £15.00 (VAT inclusive) administration fee. It will be payable along with your CIEEM membership renewal on the 1st of October each year.
