"I think everyone should be an ecologist. they are one of my favourite taxa; inherently principled and passionate and mostly just downright nice. So doing my bit to encourage other ecologists and promote ecology hasn’t exactly been hard. It was somewhat surprising then to be nominated for the Members Award but particularly touching because the nomination was from some of the ecologists that I'd worked closest with. Even a couple of months after the event it still feels quite emotional to have won it and as a personal pinnacle in my career its matched only by the time I took my first step towards the profession."
