Committee Vacancies

The Get Involved! page in the public part of the CIEEM website provides information for prospective committee members and all committee vacancies are advertised on the CIEEM Committee Vacancies webpage.

Vacancies will also be advertised via direct email to relevant members in the run up to the annual elections each autumn.

Committee Diversity

It is important that CIEEM's Member Network committees reflect the diversity of our membership. When recruiting new committee members it is important that:

  • All committee vacancies are advertised openly to CIEEM members via the CIEEM website and appropriate mailings; and
  • Committees should, as far as possible, include a diversity of employment sector, geographic spread and career stage that reflects our membership.

CIEEM members of any grade can nominate themselves for a committee vacancy in their local Geographic Section or one of our SIGs and this will include a supporting statement to assist in making the election process as open and transparent as possible.

When committees co-opt new members prior to an election, they do need to be mindful of maintaining a diverse committee make-up.

Election and Service

Vacancies for Member Network committee members will be advertised on the CIEEM Committee Vacancies webpage and, for Geographic Section committees, will be circulated to members by email in advance of the annual autumn elections.

Geographic Section committee members are elected for a three year term by Section members via an online ballot held each autumn.  Special Interest Group committee members are elected by the existing committee at one of their ordinary meetings.

Should a committee vacancy arise between meetings, the committee may co-opt a new member by agreement of the existing committee, provided that an election to fill the vacancy is held at the next opportunity.

Non-attendance at three consecutive committee meetings may be accepted by the Convenor as de facto resignation from the committee.
