Mairi Gougeon appointed Minister for Rural Affairs and the Natural Environment

Mairi Gougeon has been appointed as Minister for Rural Affairs and Natural Environment in the Scottish Government, as of June 2018.

Previously a councillor for Brechin and Edzell and for Angus North and Mearns, Mairi Gougeon was appointed the new role by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. 

Ms Gougeon is now responsible for areas of policy including: animal health & welfare, marine planning, National Parks and natural heritage, physical and marine environment and sustainable development. The Minister supports the Cabinet Secretary for Rural Economy and the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform.
