Robin Cox MCIEEM

A consultant ecologist with 20 years professional experience in ecology and environmental management, I have been a full member of CIEEM for 12 years and on the North East England Section committee since 2008.  In my last 3 years as Convenor I have overseen a successful programme of Section events including a Section conference in 2015.  I look forward to the opportunity to continue developing the Geographic Section.

Kirstin Aldous ACIEEM

Kirstin is an Associate member of CIEEM and is currently working as a senior ecologist at WYG in Newcastle upon Tyne. She has experience working on a range of commercial developments and has experience surveying for protected species including bats, great crested newt, badger, otter and reptiles.  She holds Natural England survey licenses for great crested newts and bats. Kirstin has a particular interest in bat ecology and in her free time she is a member of Northumberland bat group and assists with bat care.

Committee Member
Christopher Bell MCIEEM

I am an independent researcher and consultant with over 30 years’ experience as an ecologist, specialising in ornithological research with an emphasis on migration and predator-prey relationships.  I believe CIEEM should advocate a market-led approach to the improvement of standards within the profession, to be achieved by lowering hurdles to entry caused by over-regulation of the consultancy market. This will have the beneficial side-effect of increasing membership, since the services provided by CIEEM are of much greater value to small consultancies and sole traders.

Committee Member
Peter Glaves MCIEEM

For over 25 years I have worked as both an environemntal consultant/researcher and trainer/lecturer in ecology and environmental management. I have experience in working for environmental consultancies, government bodies and higher education. For the last six years I have been a member of CIEEM's Training Education and Career Development Committee (TECDC) and have Chaired this committee for the last three years.

Committee Member
Scott Mackenzie Grad CIEEM

I work as an ecological consultant. I’m a Graduate member of CIEEM and looking to upgrade my status to Associate member in the coming months. I feel I can bring my experience working as a junior member of CIEEM to represent those members in the NE to help with professional development. I have assisted with local events as part of the North East Section committee and have prepared an article on a local event which will hopefully be published within In Practice in the next few months. I hope to continue to help the NE committee and take on further responsibilities.

Committee Member
Dan Madden

After graduating in BSc Geography and Environmental Management from Northumbria University in 2013, I have since held various roles in the charity and private sectors. I have extensive experience working with volunteers as well as a detailed understanding of the intricacies required for successful nature conservation. Additionally, I have experience working with many of the European Protected Species. Being a part of the North East committee enables me to give an insight into what I feel recent graduates want and require post-university.

Ben RalstonCommittee Member
Ben Ralston MCIEEM

A Conservation Advisor with over 10 years of professional experience within the water industry; providing land management advice and support on ecological and archaeological matters for a wide variety of operations and construction projects.  I am a full member of CIEEM, Chartered Environmentalist, and have been a North East England Section committee member since 2008.

I look forward to continuing to identify opportunities for Section events and communicating the nature conservation message to impassion others to conserve and enjoy the natural environment.

Committee Member
Tricia Snaith ACIEEM

After 20+ years of educating prisoners I have returned to ecology and biology. Now working as an ecological consultant - a change of career, but returning to my initial degree subject and free time interests.

An active member of Durham Bat Group taking a lead in the Hamsterley Forest bat box scheme, also helping with dormouse tube checks. Botanically interested in the flora of the Upper Teesdale, learning from Dr Margaret Bradshaw.

Within CIEEM North East I would like to be able to increase the amount of training and peer led learning. I have been co-opted to the committee for the past year and would like to continue.

Committee Member
Dan Wales Grad CIEEM

I am an ecological consultant at Naturally Wild, based in Middlesbrough, and a fairly recent graduate from Newcastle University. I have been a committee member for the North East England section of CIEEM for one year now, and hope to carry on my term and further serve the region. I have had a passion for ecology from my school days, especially concerning ecology within an industrial landscape in my native Teesside. I look forward to contributing further ideas to the committee, and hope to aid people within the North East working within the ecological and environmental sector for years to come, especially focussing on young people and recent graduates.
