Committee MemberPhillippa Baron CEnv MCIEEM

I am an ecologist and have worked at the Canal & River Trust for 12 years, covering the North East Waterway Region. I have been a member of the CIEEM Yorkshire and the Humber Section Committee for the past three years and would love to continue to do so. I enjoy meeting other ecologists from around the region and arranging events for members of CIEEM.

Committee MemberBarry Clarkson MCIEEM

I am employed as a Senior Ecologist working for WYG Ltd, a position I have held for the last three years. I specialise in bats, invasive weeds and tree climbing and aerial rescue, however I also undertake a range of primary and species specific surveys usually to inform planning applications. I started working in the ecology sector in 2006 which is when I obtained my GCN survey licence (NE); I have since obtained licences for bats (NE Level 2, SNH and NRW) and my barn owl survey licence (NE).

I am a committee member and volunteer for the West Yorkshire bat group and the North Yorkshire bat group; I also act as a bat ambulance driver and temporary carer, when required. I am a member of the Yorkshire Amphibians and Reptile Group.

  Committee MemberAndrew Halcro-Johnston MCIEEM

I am a professional ecologist working in environmental consultancy and have been a member of the Yorkshire & Humber Member Network Committee since 2014. I joined the committee because it offers a great opportunity to network and share ideas with others in the profession. I’ve enjoyed organising Member Network events and would like to continue doing this, along with promoting CIEEM and offering outreach to students and the wider environmental community in our region.

Committee MemberAlex Keen

I am a keen ecologist, having recently completed a Biodiversity and Conservation MSc at the University of Leeds. I am the public events officer for West Yorkshire bat group for which I organise bat walks for the general public. My passion for ecology extends beyond my studies and I have been enjoying writing my own online blog about the natural world. I am currently liaising with local schools to organise ecology-related talks with students as I enjoy sharing my interests with others. I am particularly driven to meet other likeminded people and be a member of a well-respected committee.

Committee MemberKate Prior CEcol CEnv MCIEEM

I am a Chartered Ecologist and Chartered Environmentalist with over 10 years of industry experience. I work for Ove Arup and Partners Ltd as a Senior Ecologist and have experience in providing information for planning applications, including all forms of Ecological Impact Assessments, Article 6 (Appropriate) Assessments, protected species and habitat surveys. I also have significant project experience managing the ecological component on large infrastructure schemes.

I am keen to help promote a career in ecology and environmental management and take a greater role in organising CIEEM events within the Yorkshire and the Humber region, both of which I hope to be able to do as a committee member.

Committee MemberLuke Verrall Grad CIEEM

I work as a Consultant Ecologist in Leeds and have been a member of CIEEM for over 5 years. I have been working within the consultancy sector since 2012 and also have experience working within the conservation sector. I have volunteered as an Ordinary Member on the Yorkshire & Humber Committee for over 3 years and within that time have attended meetings, provided ideas and helped organise events. I would like to remain on the committee to continue organising events for our members. I bring enthusiasm and commitment to the role and a willingness to collaborate and network with others.

Committee MemberRichard Wilson CEnv MCIEEM

I am an experienced ecologist and Chartered Environmentalist who has worked in the environmental sector for almost 20 years; within the consultancy sector since 2001. I have a broad range of skills and experience obtained through project and continued professional development, supporting a diverse range of clients within the private, public and non-governmental sectors, focussing on my core specialisms of invertebrate and avian ecology. This technical speciality combined with my broad experience will enhance the delivery of the group for members in the Yorkshire region and offer an increasingly diverse portfolio within the committee.
